PREORDER PAPERBACK - Larry E. Smith, MMR, covers the history of the James E. Strates Show trains in this 235-page book.

Strates has been in the carnival business for 100 years, starting in 1923 as the Southern Tier Shows until today and having the distinction of operating the last show train in the United States, although that hasn’t occurred in the last few years.

Follow the changes over the decades as Strates Shows developed from a two-car train, 1935, into the 45-car train of today, using the best and most modern equipment to house and transport their employees and equipment.

Includes over 800 historical photos and illustrations. Plus the book has extensive ideas and examples on how to model these changes and how to accurately represent different eras of operation.

Expected to ship late September 2023.

Also available as a downloadable eBook or hardbound.
